Throughout the recent holiday season, the second season of the MCU animated series What If...? aired on Disney+ to the delight of many fans of the franchise as they get to see more alternate universe stories with their favorite MCU characters.
With so many characters that the MCU has introduced throughout the years and films and TV shows that they can put a spin on different directions, fans are hoping that the series will continue for more seasons and explore more stories within the multiverse.
Now, following the conclusion of the second season, we finally have an early glimpse of one of the stories that will be explored in the next installment of the series.

What If...? Season 3 Preview Unveils Bucky Barnes and Alexei Shostakov Team-Up
Marvel Studios has released the first sneak peek on the third season of What If...? which gave us our preview of an upcoming episode that will feature the team-up of Bucky Barnes and Black Widow fan-favorite Alexei Shostakov.
In the three-minute-long footage, the two Russia-based MCU characters are seen on a road trip on a deserted road somewhere in America. They are stopped at a checkpoint that is being led by Bill Foster.
Foster questioned the two regarding the purpose of their trip and they lied by answering that they were visiting their sister for her birthday. However, their response wasn't convincing enough to Foster as he asked them to step out of the vehicle for further questioning.
Bucky draws his gun and Alexei starts to drive away from the checkpoint. Bill instructed the police units around to follow them. A car chase action sequence ensued.
Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Laurence Fishburne are reprising their respective MCU roles in the episode.
A.C. Bradley, who served as the head writer of the first two seasons, revealed in an interview with IGN that the episode was originally part of the second season.
"I ended The Watcher and Peggy relationship in a place I'm very proud of, and I'm excited to see where the show goes as a viewer," she said.
"But I will say that the Season 3 episode is probably my absolute favorite episode I've ever written for Marvel. And not just because it features Alexei, who my cat is named after."
It is an exciting tease about the upcoming episode, especially since they are going to explore the relationship of two MCU characters that we haven't seen interact before and it looks like it will be a fun story to see unfold.
