Following the success of the second season during the recent holiday season, Marvel Studios is now working on the third season of the animated series What If...?, which is already in production and will continue to tell more stories within the multiverse.
Considering that the first two seasons were mostly focused on familiar MCU characters from the Infinity Saga, fans have been wondering whether the series will finally focus on characters that were explored in Phase Four and beyond.
So far, the series has only tackled elements from Phase Four films Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which occurred during the second season.
Now, it looks like the upcoming season will be exploring more of Phase Four as teased by new first-look images that were just released.

What If...? Season 3 First Look Images Reveal Phase Four Heroes' Debut
Marvel Studios released the first look images at the upcoming third season of What If...? as their "thank you gift" for fans who watched and supported the airing of the second season recently.
"From all of us at Marvel Studios, THANK YOU for watching season 2 of #WhatIf and joining us on this journey across time…space…reality. We’re excited to share this early look at some of the endless possibilities we’ll explore together in season 3 of What If…?" they wrote in their social media post.
The photos revealed that Sam Wilson's Captain America and Monica Rambeau are teaming up in one of the episodes, making their debut in the animated series.
This marked the first time that the series will have an episode that is dedicated to a major hero that was introduced/established in Phase Four. It is unknown yet whether Anthony Mackie and Teyonah Parris are also voicing their respective MCU roles.
They also gave us another glimpse at the upcoming team-up between Bucky Barnes and the Red Guardian, which was already hinted at a first-look clip that was released after the second season finale was aired.
While it's still far ways off before the third season will air, it is still great to see that Marvel Studios has already given us a bunch of sneak peeks as we're anticipating more batches of multiversal stories within the MCU.
