Just in time for the spooky season this month, MCU fans will be able to watch the Werewolf by Night special in color which will provide a different visual experience for the audience in seeing Jack Russell's one-night adventure.

While the new version won't have any changes to the story, there is still some curiosity regarding what the colored version will look like and how it's going to be different from the original black and white.

There's also a question of why Marvel Studios decided to experiment and release this new version since the black-and-white aspect of the original was praised for its unique visuals that are a departure from the rest of the MCU.

Now, the director behind the special has chimed in and explained the reason behind the upcoming release of this new version.

Speaking with Marvel.com, Werewolf by Night director Michael Giacchino opened up about their decision to do a colored version of the MCU special.

He explained that the idea started back when it was in production as they were experimenting with a colored version and they think that it would be a fun way to reintroduce it to the audience for this year's Halloween season.

"Last year when we were finishing the film, we started messing around. What would the color version of this look like if we were to do it? We started doing some tests, and we were like, that's cool. We were well into this a year ago — wanting to do this and share this," Giacchino said.

"We thought after a year of people having seen it, it's been up there, it would be fun to reintroduce it in another way — in another version of what horror really is, which is in those old movies that I used to love growing up from Hammer horror films, which were these saturated colors and stark lighting."

It is interesting to see whether this experiment will work since the original black-and-white version was already loved by both fans and critics. Hopefully, the colored version will still be visually striking and deliver a genuine horror experience.

Most importantly, if the responses to this new version fare well, hopefully, it could lead Marvel Studios to do another Halloween-related special or explore Jack Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, and Man-Thing's next adventure in the MCU following the events of the special.

Werewolf by Night in Color is set to arrive on Disney+ this October 20.
