Following the success of the first two films, Sony is now working on a third Venom film with Tom Hardy returning to play Eddie Brock once again. So far, the plot details remain under wraps except that Eddie and the symbiote will embark on another hijinks.
We've also been hearing some casting updates about the film in the past few weeks including Ted Lasso star Juno Temple, who is set to play the female lead, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who will play a different Marvel role this time around.
Now, as the project is close to production, we finally know when we will be seeing the film on the big screen.
Venom 3 is Set to Arrive in Theaters Next Year
Variety revealed that the third Venom film is currently scheduled for release in theaters on October 2024. If the film does end up settling on this release window, it will be similar to the first two films as they were both released in the first weekend of October.
It sounds like Sony decided to continue with their luck on that release window which is probably why they chose that month again for Eddie Brock's third venture in the Spider-Verse.
Regarding the production of the film, Temple revealed in a recent FYC event for Ted Lasso that filming is set to begin "very, very soon, which I’m thrilled about."
However, it should also be pointed out that the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike might affect their plans although it sounds like they will still proceed as of this moment.
This is certainly an exciting update since we now have an idea of when we can expect to see the film. It also means that there will be three Sony Spider-Verse films that will arrive next year as Madame Web and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse are also set to release.
For now, let's wait and see for more updates regarding the project in the coming weeks or months as they are set to begin production soon. There is a possibility that we will learn more casting news, especially whether some of the cast members from the first two films will also return.
