Following the success of the first two films, Sony is now working on a third Venom film with Tom Hardy returning to play the titular character once again for another heroic adventure.
We've been hearing a lot of updates about the project in the past couple of weeks as it is reportedly gearing up for production soon including the casting of Ted Lasso star Juno Temple as a new addition to the ensemble.
Now, we have a word on another actor who is joining the film and it's someone who was involved in another Marvel franchise as Deadline confirmed that Doctor Strange actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to co-star in Venom 3.
There are no details yet regarding the role that the Oscar-nominated actor is going to play in the film except that he won't be reprising his MCU role of Karl Mordo from the first two Doctor Strange films.
Ejiofor became the latest MCU actor to join Sony's Spider-Verse. He is following Avengers: Age of Ultron's Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Thor: Love and Thunder's Russell Crowe, who are both starring in the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie.
His casting in the film has also been rumored for the past few weeks, but now we finally have the confirmation that he is officially part of the movie as the report stated that a deal already closed.
Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote the first two films, will be taking over the directorial duty for the third installment. There is no confirmation yet whether other cast members such as Michelle Williams are returning to the new film as well.
It is certainly interesting to hear that Ejiofor is going to be part of the film, especially since he will be playing a different character from the one he played in the MCU and now it is curious to see which new Marvel role will he take on.
