Known for being the director of Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi loves to play some characters, too! He portrayed Korg in the said film on top of doing the directing of the movie. When The Suicide Squad released a teaser video of the roll call of all the cast that would be in the flick, surprisingly, Waititi's name appeared, however, his role remains in the shadows until the release.

Many assumed that he would be voicing King Shark but such was immediately debunked as it was later revealed that Sylvester Stallone did the role. When the trailer of the movie was released, people speculated once more as to who Waititi would be playing, theorizing that he would voice Starro, but none other than the writer and director of The Suicide Squad himself, James Gunn, shut down that thought.

In the film, the role of Taika Waititi has been revealed and the part he played also explains why Daniela Melchior's character has a number "2" attached to it – it's because Waititi is the Ratcatcher and his daughter is the Ratcatcher 2 played by Melchior.

The scene took us to a flashback when Ratcatcher 2 and Bloodsport were having a conversation as to the father of the former. In the scene, it showed that since she was a child, her father was a genius whilst being homeless in Portugal. However, it was also seen that he was an addict, injecting drugs to himself. Ratcatcher 2 revealed that the machine she uses is made by her father and the secrets to calling the rodents were taught to her as well.

The rats took trinkets for them to be able to get by in life and when they were cold, the rodents became their source of heat. The flashback also gave the death of Waititi's character who seemed to have overdosed. By the end of the film, Ratcatcher 2 calls on all the rats from the city finally defeating Starro and his army. Waves of rodents flooded the streets and chewed off of Starro.

In another flashback after the said scene, she asked her father why he chose rats, and he answered in such a down-to-Earth response, "Rats are the lowliest and most despised of all creatures, my love. If they have purpose, so do we all." Harley finally finished the job and killed Starro through piercing his eyes, allowing the rats to swim through and eat him from the inside.

Catch Taika Waititi in The Suicide Squad, now in theaters and on HBO Max.
