The Penguin Series Adds Fantastic Beasts Star Carmen Ejogo in Secret Role

For the past several weeks, we've been hearing a lot of updates on The Batman spinoff series The Penguin as production is currently underway including the actors who are joining Colin Farrell. Now, we have yet again another update on more actors who have joined the ensemble.

According to Variety, Fantastic Beasts and Secret Invasion star Carmen Ejogo has been cast in The Penguin for a recurring role. However, they didn't provide any details regarding the role she'll play. François Chau and David H. Holmes are also joining the series.

The growing ensemble of the series already includes Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, Michael Zegen, James Madio, Scott Cohen, and Theo Rossi.

Lauren LaFranc serves as the showrunner of the series and executive produces alongside Farrell, Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Craig Zobel, Daniel Pipski, Bill Carraro, and Rafi Cohn. It is expected to consist of eight episodes. Set around one week after the events of The Batman, the series will explore the rise to power of Oswald Cobblepot in the criminal underworld of Gotham City.

Ejogo is known for playing President Seraphina Picquery in the Fantastic Beasts films and has also joined the MCU as part of the upcoming series Secret Invasion. She also starred in films such as Selma and Alien: Covenant and TV shows such as Your Honor and True Detective.

It is always exciting to add another talent to the series and Ejogo is certainly no exception to that. While we don't have any details regarding the role that she'll play, hopefully, it will be a juicy character that she can chew in and probably have a huge contribution to the main story of the series. For now, let's just wait and see.
