James Mangold Confirmed to Write DC's Swamp Thing Film

It's official: James Mangold will be writing and directing DC's planned Swamp Thing film. The Logan director also revealed that he is working on the project at the same time as a new Star Wars movie.

James Mangold recently attended Star Wars Celebration 2023 where it was announced that he would direct a new Star Wars film set in the deep past. The new movie will follow the first Jedi to wield a lightsaber and is expected to delve deep into Jedi lore.

The news itself was awesome but James Mangold was more than happy to talk about a separate project. While talking to Collider, the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director admitted that he is working on the Swamp Thing film at the same time as his new Star Wars movie.

"The truth is, I'm writing both right now, and who knows what's going to happen and what's gonna blossom first or second? So there's your thing, I'm doing Swamp Thing, there's your scoop. It's not a rumour, it's happening. I put it online," Mangold said.

Not surprisingly, people are loving the confirmation from James Mangold. It didn't take long before DC Films co-chairperson James Gunn reacted to Mangold's comments.

"Of course when we started charting the course for the DCU one of the first people I talked to was the super talented @mang0ld about writing and directing his passion project Swamp Thing," Gunn wrote.

We're happy to know that James Mangold will be busy working on two projects that we can truly look forward to. For now, both Swamp Thing and the untitled Star Wars film are still in early development. However, we're hoping to get new updates on these movies soon.

James Mangold's latest project Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny will star Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, and Boyd Holbrook. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 30, 2023.
