The deal with Paul Marks does not go through. In the eighth episode of The Morning Show Season 3, we find out that Paul intends to sell UBA when the deal goes through.

Alex, at first, is on board with Paul’s plans for UBA, but after Bradley tells her that she thinks Paul has been surveilling her ever since he found out she was investigating him, Alex becomes suspicious of Paul.

She then intentionally sends Bradley a text message with the wrong information about her hometown to see if what Bradley said was true. In Alex’s conversation with Paul about Bradley, Paul mentions the incorrect hometown, which confirms Alex’s suspicions.

Cory, Alex, Stella, and the team look for their own ways to save UBA from Paul Marks. Stella and the team plan to tell the public about Paul Marks’ plans. So, they decide to interview someone on the show – a guest who has “nothing to lose”.

This person is Chip, Alex’s producer whom she recently fired. On live TV, Chip reveals that Paul Marks is going to dismantle UBA. He adds that if the shareholders vote yes, then the whole network will cease to exist.

Chip ends up having a meltdown on live TV, with lots of swearing. This meltdown produced positive results for those against Paul, as the latter lost votes because shareholders did not want the bad press.

Paul later offers Cory money and tells him that he just needs an NDA, but Cory responds that he would not take a penny from him.

The “Great Day” arrives, and Paul and Leonard are excited to make things official. But Alex interrupts the boardroom vote by presenting an alternative to Hyperion’s offer.

Alex proposes a merger between UBA and its rival network, NBN. In the proposal, NBN and UBA will combine resources to reduce costs, ad sales, tech support, accounting, and programming.

Alex emphasizes that it’s a chance to start over and do things right for once and that it’s a true partnership.

Paul asks to speak with Alex, and she brings him to a nearby room. Stella and Kate are in that room, and Stella says that they know he told Kate to cut the transmission on the rocket launch to hide the fact that the navigation system malfunctioned. Kate emphasizes that Paul has been reporting fake data to NASA and that she has proof.

Paul asks Alex what she wants, and Alex emphasizes that he blackmailed Bradley into resigning, and by doing so, he silenced a journalist. Paul says that he can delay the vote until they can figure things out, but Alex tells him to walk away from UBA.

Alex tells him to come clean to NASA, or they will run the story and end Hyperion. Paul then decides to pull out of the deal, and later on, he and Alex break up.
