The mid-credits scene of The Marvels featured the surprise cameo appearance of Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, reprising the role from the Fox X-Men movies.

He came into the scene as it was revealed that Monica Rambeau had seemingly found herself in the Fox X-Men universe and Dr. McCoy and Binary (a Maria Rambeau variant) were checking on her in the clinic inside the X-Mansion.

It was a wonderful surprise for fans since it established more connection between the main MCU and the Fox X-Men universe and it teases what we might see in the rest of the Multiverse Saga.

So how did Marvel Studios bring back the Emmy-winning actor for the special cameo? Fortunately, it was one call away.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, The Marvels producer Mary Livanos shared the details of how they brought back Grammer for the surprise cameo appearance in the mid-credits scene of the film.

She revealed that it was Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige who made the call to the actor since they worked together before in X-Men: The Last Stand.

"Kevin Feige just called him up! Kevin, of course, worked on the X-Men films back in the day, so they have their own wonderful relationship. We were just so lucky to have him," Livanos said.

Meanwhile, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kamala Khan actress Iman Vellani revealed that the scene was shot during the earlier part of the principal photography although she wasn't privy to the secret during that time.

"They shot the mid-credit scene during principal [photography]. They shot it earlier, so they knew what they were doing. But I thought it was going to be something else. I did not realize Beast was in it. I knew they shot it, but I was expecting to see something else," she explained.

"And lo and behold, they kept the secret even from me. I literally jumped and had a heart attack on my bed when I watched it for the first time."

Just like Vellani, fans were also excited to see Grammer's Beast show up even for just a brief moment and it's great that he agreed to do the cameo which seemed to be an easy call from Marvel Studios.

It's interesting to see whether we will see him again soon which is likely to happen next year in Deadpool 3 where most Fox X-Men actors are expected to return including Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

The Marvels is showing in theaters everywhere.
