The Marvels has unfortunately become a box office disappointment and it is a situation that the MCU has never faced before as most of their films before have solid box office results regardless of the critical reception that they received.

It remains to be seen whether the film's poor box office performance will affect the plans for the future of the MCU, especially for the three main characters.

Fans are hoping that we will still see more of Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau in the future and the box office numbers won't be seen as a reflection of their work or determine their tenure in the franchise.

Now, one of the stars of the film has chimed in and shared their thoughts on the underwhelming box office performance.

In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan, was asked to share her thoughts surrounding the box office disappointment of The Marvels.

She shrugged off the concerns as she stated that it's a situation that is out of her control since the box office is more of a problem on the Disney management side and she rather focus on the finished product of the film itself.

"I don't want to focus on something that's not even in my control, because what's the point? That's for [Disney CEO] Bob Iger," Vellani said.

"[The box office] has nothing to do with me. I'm happy with the finished product, and the people that I care about enjoyed the film. It's genuinely a good time watching this movie, and that's all we can ask for with these films."

The actress continued, "It has superheroes, it take place in space, it's not that deep and it's about teamwork and sisterhood. It's a fun movie, and I'm just so happy that I can share it with people."

A lot of fans online have praised Vellani's respectful response to the question and commended her for focusing on the positive side of the situation rather than lamenting the money that the film has made.

After all, at the end of the day, box office numbers are not always indicative of audience success and perhaps it would get an even warmer reception later on when it becomes available on streaming in a few months.

The Marvels is still showing in theaters everywhere.
