It's official: Moff Gideon is back and he brought some interesting friends. The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 7 offered a glimpse at the Shadow Council. One of the council members just happened to be a character originally introduced in Chuck Wendig's Star Wars: Aftermath book series. In addition to that, he happens to be the father of the Star Wars sequel trilogy villain General Armitage Hux.
In The Mandalorian Chapter 23, Moff Gideon joined the Shadow Council to request reinforcements from Commandant Brendol Hux who questions why he fears an assassination attempt. Gideon reveals that the Mandalorians are planning to retake their home planet and the council is immediately concerned about a possible resurgence. Hux then promises to send Gideon the reinforcements he needs.
Commandant Brendol Hux is a familiar figure to those who read Chuck Wendig's Star Wars: Aftermath books. Introduced in Aftermath: Life Debt, he was a well-known Imperial officer and later became a member of the Shadow Council. His son Armitage Hux would later become a general of the First Order and be played by Domhnall Gleeson in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
It's awesome to see Brendol Hux in the flesh and fans are realizing that his son inherited that snarky energy from him. Moreover, the character is played by Brian Gleeson, the older brother of Domhnall Gleeson.
Brendol Hux isn't the first Star Wars Aftermath character to appear in The Mandalorian. The series had previously introduced Cobb Vanth, a secondary character who appeared in all books via an interlude chapter. Cobb Vanth was played by Timothy Olyphant who reprised the role in The Book of Boba Fett.
For now, it is unclear whether Brendol Hux will be returning in the final episode of The Mandalorian Season 3. Nevertheless, there is a huge chance we'll see more of the Shadow Council in the future.
