It has been a few days but we continue to spot new details in the Ahsoka trailer. The latest discovery is the possible live-action debut of a character who was originally introduced in the animated series Star Wars Resistance.
Star Wars Resistance premiered back in 2018 and lasted for two seasons. The series followed Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono, a New Republic pilot who ends up becoming a resistance spy. Interestingly, the character who possibly appears in the Ahsoka trailer has a direct connection to Kaz.
In the Ahsoka trailer, Mon Mothma appears in a hologram accompanied by other New Republic senators. One of the senators is wearing a distinct green suit and bears a strong resemblance to Kaz Xiono. Not surprisingly, it is believed that the character is Senator Hamato Xiono in his younger years.
Senator Hamato Xiono was only a minor character in Star Wars Resistance but he was an important one. After all, he is the father of Kaz Xiono and the main reason why Kaz managed to train as a New Republic pilot. However, Hamato didn't approve of his son joining the Resistance and this put a strain on their relationship.
It makes sense that Senator Xiono would be in Ahsoka since he was a New Republic senator long before Kaz was born. It's unlikely that we'll see the live-action version of Kaz but seeing Hamato is still really cool.
Ahsoka is pretty much the sequel to Star Wars Rebels and will introduce most of the Ghost crew into live-action. The series will star Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Professor Huyang, who was introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will also get his live-action debut in the show and will still be voiced by David Tennant.
Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ in August 2023.
