The Boys Star Karl Urban Addresses Wolverine Fan-Casting Demands

Karl Urban is loving the idea of being the next Wolverine. The star of The Boys recently learned that he is one of the favorites to take over as the mutant after Hugh Jackman's retirement from the role. Not surprisingly, Urban is a little unsure about the fan-casting but is pleased to be considered for the part.

Karl Urban recently spoke to The Guardian where he was told that he is a fan-favorite to be the next Wolverine. Interestingly, the Star Trek 4 actor is thrilled by the idea but he also pointed out that it was highly unlikely that he would be chosen as Hugh Jackman's replacement.

“Oh really? It’s flattering, but you have to rationally think about it," Urban said. He then pointed out that age does matter.

“I’m what, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? I mean, if I was a studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I’d pick someone I’ll get three films out of. You’re not going to get three films out of Karl Urban unless you want a 65-year-old Wolverine,” Urban stated.

He does have a point there considering that Marvel Studios probably has huge plans for Wolverine when the character finally shows up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With that in mind, a younger actor would be a better option.

We already know that there are other actors that fans want to see as Wolverine. There were previous rumors of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe taking over the role. In addition to that, there were speculations that Jackman's Eddie the Eagle co-star Taron Egerton could play the mutant. However, it is important to remember that Marvel Studios has not yet shared an update on the casting so it's best to take this with a grain of salt.

The Boys Season 3 will premiere on Amazon Prime on June 3, 2022.
