The Acolyte Star Admits ‘Crying Everyday’ Since Joining the Star Wars Franchise

You may know Manny Jacinto for his major role as Jason Mendoza in The Good Place, or perhaps his role in Top Gun: Maverick as Fritz, and now the actor is moving on to bigger feats as he joins Star Wars: The Acolyte, which is set to feature the dawning days of the High Republic era.

“We’re doing Star Wars, baby! This is unreal, this is crazy, this is so cool, it’s a huge honor to be able to do this with this cast…” Jacinto said while making an appearance at the Star Wars Celebration panel (via /Film), “It’s a dream, I cry every day just being on set.”

While Jacinto’s role is still being kept under wraps, he will be starring alongside Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Rebecca Henderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Joonas Suotamo.

Considering that the next step to gaining more fame and exposure in Hollywood is definitely joining the big names such as Marvel, DC, and Star Wars, Jacinto’s role in The Acolyte could make his career and lead him to bigger roles in the future. There’s also a possibility his role would be longer than one series.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is currently in post-production and while 2024 may seem too far for the eye to see, it is likely we’ll finally gain news on more details as the weeks pass by. For now, Jodie Turner-Smith teased the Star Wars show as: “It’s incredible to see. I can’t wait to see how this show turns out.”

The Acolyte will be set a hundred years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, where a former Padawan meeting her Jedi Master leads to uncovering something bigger than they speculated. The Sith-focused series is leading fans to expect the series to add more to the already-rich lore of the franchise.

The new Disney+ series, The Acolyte, has yet to land its official release date, but is expected to premiere sometime in 2024. For now, you can check out more details about the series here.
