After being announced last week, a new visual and story details about the new cinema manga Tenmaku Cinema from Food Wars’ creators were revealed.

Writer Yuto Tsukuda and illustrator Shun Saeki are back following the end of Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma back in 2019.

Instead of being a series about food though, the duo’s new work is about a high school cinephile.

While there are not a lot of details yet about the series, the new visual and story info should be enough to give readers a taste of what to expect.

Tenmaku Cinema was made official in the latest Weekly Shonen Jump magazine issue.

This manga’s upcoming release follows some manga cancelations, including the likes of PPPPPP and Tokyo Demon Bride.

The new visual for the manga features a guy who is probably the protagonist, as well as a white-haired companion.

Fans of Food Wars will likely think the characters look familiar as they are drawn in illustrator Shun Saeki’s signature style.

The blue-haired guy in the main visual is likely the protagonist. After all, his high school uniform and recording setup do match the main character’s description.

From the looks of it, the main character is a movie-lover who may be interested in creating films of his own.

While they're not to the level of a full movie camera setup, the character’s phone, gimbal, mic, and light do indicate that he’s a serious amateur filmmaker.

Tenmaku Cinema Story Details, Release Date

According to a report by Comic Natalie, the manga is described as a “youth action cinema” series and it will have a story about “moviemaking with a genius screenwriter.”

It’s not clear exactly if the screenwriter is the high schooler protagonist or if it’s the white-haired character.

There’s also a chance that the white-haired character is a character in a movie, or even a spirit given their design.

Aside from the release of the new visual, the next Weekly Shonen Jump issue cover was leaked recently online, and it features the two characters from the main visual.

The Tenmaku Cinema manga will premiere in the 19th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump issue in 2023.

Given how all Shonen Jump titles are simulpub on Manga Plus, expect this manga to also get a simultaneous English release.
