Now that James Gunn has found the DCU's Clark Kent and Lois Lane for Superman: Legacy, casting is now underway for the other roles in the film which will include some of the familiar characters that we know in the DC lore.

We know that the film will likely include some of the members of The Authority as revealed by a recent report, but fans are also wondering whether they will also introduce other well-known DC heroes since they are all part of a shared universe after all.

Now, we finally have a new casting update on Superman: Legacy and it sounds like they are indeed going to introduce more heroes aside from the Man of Steel.

Vanity Fair has confirmed that The Rookie and The Suicide Squad star Nathan Fillion is joining the cast of Superman: Legacy. He is set to play Guy Gardner, a Green Lantern.

This will mark the actor's second live-action DC role as he briefly played TDK in The Suicide Squad, which was also directed by Gunn. The character met a gruesome fate during the film's opening sequence.

He is now also the first actor who is confirmed to play a Green Lantern in the new DCU franchise and is also expected to continue the role in other projects that the character will be part of.

His casting in the film was announced alongside Isabela Merced and Edi Gathegi, who will play Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific, respectively. Their appearances will establish that the DCU already has existing superheroes when we see its debut on Superman: Legacy.

While Fillion is expected to play Guy Gardner in more projects, it is unknown at the moment whether he will also reprise the role in the Green Lantern TV series that will center on Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

This won't also be the first time that the actor will play a Green Lantern since he previously voiced Hal Jordan in direct-to-video animated movies from 2011 to 2019.

This is certainly an exciting update since we now have a confirmation that the film will indeed include more DC heroes. It is curious to see what Fillion's take on the role will be, especially since it's also confirmed that he is also going to don the character's signature bowl-cut hairstyle.
