Superman: Legacy is currently in the middle of the casting process as James Gunn, Peter Safran, and their team at DC Studios are looking for actors who will play the DCU's Clark Kent and Lois Lane and lead the first movie in the franchise.
So far, we are still far from confirmation regarding the actors who will end up taking the role although several names have appeared in the trades who are going to be the frontrunners and moving on to the next rounds of auditions.
Now, we have another interesting casting update about the film and it looks like they will introduce a set of characters who will lead another DCU movie.
The Authority Will Be Part of Superman: Legacy
In a recent Heat Vision newsletter from The Hollywood Reporter, they revealed that Gunn is also set to cast the actors who will play the members of The Authority in Superman: Legacy after they're done with the casting process on Clark and Lois.
In other words, The Authority will have their DCU debut in Superman: Legacy making it their launchpad to introduce themselves to the fans and the general audience before they star in their own solo movie.
This is our first confirmation that the DC team will have an earlier debut in the franchise than what we might anticipate. However, it is unknown whether all members will be introduced as a team or they'll only feature a couple of them.
There are also no details yet on whether The Authority will be introduced as an established superhero team in the DCU world or it will be formed during the events of the film.
This is certainly a piece of exciting news for fans of The Authority since you can now expect them to show up in the DCU as early as 2025 and it is likely that we will hear the actors who will play the members right before the year ends.
For now, all eyes are on the casting of the film's central characters Clark Kent and Lois Lane and, based on the recent update, there is a strong possibility that we will be able to find out the actors around this summer.
Superman: Legacy is slated for release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
