James Gunn has been busy casting the key roles for the first DCU film Superman: Legacy. Aside from Clark Kent and Lois Lane, he has also cast for the other DC heroes that will also show up in the movie.

This certainly proves that the film will establish that Superman is going to be part of a world where many superheroes already exist similar to the comics and it is very likely that it will also set up their future appearances in other DCU projects.

Now, in the aftermath of yesterday's massive casting updates, another actor has been added to its growing ensemble to play another superhero that will be introduced.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Barry star Anthony Carrigan is joining the cast of Superman: Legacy. He will be playing the beloved DC superhero Metamorpho.

His casting in the film comes as he also received an Emmy nomination this morning for his performance in the final season of Barry.

Right after the news came out regarding his casting in the film, he spoke with Deadline and discussed his excitement about joining the DCU franchise in the midst of celebrating his Emmy nomination.

"I’m gobsmacked. I think it’s just such an exciting new chapter, and such an exciting new chapter for DC. I think this movie has the potential to just really knock everyone’s socks off, and with James Gun at the helm, I think it’s just going to be so much fun," he said.

"I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I’m honored to be playing this part, and I’m playing a hero. So, on top of everything, that’s pretty rad."

Carrigan is joining the cast that already includes David Corenswet (Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), and Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific).

In case you're not familiar, Metamorpho is known for his ability to transmute elements in his body into various forms, taking those properties on as powers. He is also a founding member of the supergroup The Outsiders.

This is certainly exciting casting news since Carrigan is a very talented actor as proven by his Emmy-nominated work in the four-season run of Barry. It is interesting to see what his take on the character will be, especially since it will be his live-action debut.
