Trigger is no stranger to collaboration as the anime studio has teamed up with Poland’s CD Projekt RED for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Now, Studio Trigger joined forces with the massive Indian blockbuster hit RRR for a special collab visual.

While this isn’t a full-blown RRR anime, the new visual captures one of the highlight moments of the Telugu smash hit in Trigger’s signature style.

This new visual wasn’t just made out of the blue though, as it is part of the promotion for the film’s Japanese theatrical re-release.

2022 was a highlight year for movies, whether it’s anime films with titles like Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, or big blockbusters such as Avatar: The Way of Water.

However, there is one film that many did not expect to blow up as much as it did, and that’s the Indian Telugu-language action epic, RRR.

This film by renowned director S.S. Rajamouli is his latest work, and while it was expectedly a hit in India, RRR became a huge global phenomenon too as it captured the hearts and minds of viewers from all over the world.

RRR’s mix of over-the-top action and touching theme of friendship proved to be what many moviegoers want.

And while viewers from lots of countries loved it, RRR became a particularly massive hit in Japan.

It seems that the film’s unique qualities have resonated with the Japanese audience as it became the highest-grossing Indian film in the country.

RRR also inspired lots of fan-made works featuring the two main characters.

Instead of being limited to fanart and other tributes, Studio Trigger made Japan’s love for RRR official as the studio created a new visual for the film’s Japanese dub release.

Specifically, the new visual is made by Yoh Yoshinari, the director of BNA and character designer of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

The visual won’t just be released online though, as a card featuring the illustration will be given to viewers who watch the film in cinemas on July 28, 2023.

While RRR has tons of memorable scenes, it’s fair to say that the epic fight scene featuring Bheem and Raju together is the perfect subject for Trigger’s special visual.

Though RRR was released in Japanese cinemas last year, it is only now that the movie got a Japanese dub release.

Meanwhile, Trigger is currently working on its next anime project, Delicious in Dungeon.
