Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Has Reportedly Started Filming

During the Star Wars Celebration event last May, Lucasfilm announced that they are working on Skeleton Crew, a new series created by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts and Christopher Ford and will star Jude Law. However, at that time, they didn't reveal any details regarding its production status. Now, it looks like we have an exciting update regarding the movement of the project.

According to The Bespin Bulletin, Skeleton Crew has already started filming. Production for the series began in late June at Manhattan Beach Studios, where Ahsoka is also currently filming at the moment. The series will also film at a studio in Culver City and at California State University in Dominguez Hill.

Watts, Ford, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Kathleen Kennedy are executive producing the series. Law is the only confirmed cast member so far, but the series was previously casting teenage actors for the main roles. The story is set after the events of Return of the Jedi and is described as a "galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the '80s."

So far, Lucasfilm has not made any confirmation regarding this information so we could take this news with a grain of salt. However, the outlet has been mostly reliable in its exclusive reports in the past so this is likely to be true. There are previous reports that also corroborate the project's plan to begin production this year.

It is great to hear that the series has started filming since it is tangible proof that it is officially moving forward. However, it is interesting though that Lucasfilm has not made any official comments regarding the other casting information. Either way, this is exciting news nonetheless and we might hear more updates about the series in the next few months.
