Aside from his other iconic countless of roles throughout his career, Liam Neeson is also known for playing Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn in the Star Wars franchise starting with his first appearance on The Phantom Menace back in 1999.
Since then, the Oscar-nominated actor has occasionally made appearances as the beloved Jedi master in various animated and live-action projects such as last year's Obi-Wan Kenobi and Tales of the Jedi.
It is certainly great to see him continuing to play the role despite his death in the first prequel trilogy film and there's no doubt that fans would love to see more of him in various projects.
It also helps that the franchise today is bigger than ever as Lucasfilm is producing more Star Wars content for Disney+ with the multiple live-action and animated projects that they've been making for the last couple of years.
However, the franchise's expansion has also become a cause of concern amongst some of the fans as it is believed to have caused "fatigue" and the ratings of the recent shows are showing signs that it could be the case.
Even Neeson himself is now also concerned about the rapid growth of the franchise that he's attached to.
Liam Neeson Gets Honest About the Current State of Star Wars
During his appearance at Conan O'Brien's Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend podcast, Neeson opened up about his involvement in the Star Wars franchise where he jokingly described it as a "cult."
The actor also shared his concerns over the franchise's current state due to the many projects that are currently airing or in the works.
"There's so many movies and spinoffs and I think, you're diluting the whole thing. I think. That's my personal thing," he said.
Neeson went on to discuss his various encounters with Star Wars fans and behind-the-stories from The Phantom Menace where he revealed that he and Ewan McGregor were making lightsaber sounds themselves while filming.
There is some truth to what Neeson is saying regarding the current state of the franchise and the numbers themselves have also suggested that the actor might be right that the existence of various projects may have diluted it.
The actor might have made that conclusion since he has also reprised the role of Qui-Gon Jinn in multiple projects during the span of just a year and he probably noticed that Lucasfilm might already be spreading too thin.
However, it looks like Neeson's concerns might get addressed very soon as recent reports have indicated that Lucasfilm is slated to reduce its Star Wars output since its parent company Disney is currently in the process of cost-cutting.

Despite the concerns that he might have, it also seems like Neeson is still having fun playing his iconic Jedi master role from time to time and it won't be surprising if we'll see him reprise him again in another project soon.
