Last week, the first two episodes of the highly-anticipated Star Wars series Ahsoka premiered to a seeming success as both the critics and fans had positive responses to the beginning of the eight-episode saga.

However, there have also been concerns about its potential reception amongst the general audience as the series might be too "inside baseball" amongst the Star Wars fans since it is a continuation of the Rebels animated series.

There is also some curiosity about its viewership since it may not appeal to the public who might not be huge Star Wars fans and some of them have also expressed that the franchise might already be in "fatigue" due to the countless of content that has been released for the past few years.

Now, we finally have the first results of the show's viewership and it is looking like it is another sign that the franchise might indeed be experiencing fatigue.

Ahsoka Premiere Ratings Are Lower Than the Other Star Wars Shows

According to Deadline, Samba TV has reported that the first episode of Ahsoka received a Live+5 day viewership of 1.2M U.S. households while the second episode drew 956K households.

The new series' premiere viewership is on par with the first episode of Andor which arrived on Disney+ last year and pulled in 1.2M households.

However, while the show's premiere viewership could still be considered decent by today's streaming standards, it is still disappointing numbers overall as it is lower than the premiere of the other Star Wars live-action shows.

Earlier this year, the premiere of the third season of The Mandalorian drew a viewership of 1.7M U.S. households while last year's Obi-Wan Kenobi had 2.4M U.S. households in its debut.

The Book of Boba Fett also fared better as it premiered to a viewership of 1.7M U.S. households when it arrived on Disney+ back in December 2021.

There are a lot of factors that you can consider regarding why Ahsoka premiered lower than the other live-action shows in the franchise, but it is yet again another sign that it is continuing to experience fatigue among the audience.

Another possibility is that the series' Rebels continuation storyline might have also turned off some of the audience who are not familiar with the events of the animated series and decided to not check out the new show at all.

Depending on the word-of-mouth in the coming weeks, the ratings of the subsequent episodes could still turn things around and perhaps improve although it would still have to depend on the show's quality and its appeal to the general public despite its deeper mythology.

New episodes of Ahsoka premiere every Tuesday night on Disney+.
