The three-episode premiere of Star Wars: Andor revolved on something up for a sale and that, itself, led the titular hero to his place in the Rebel Alliance. What is in that box, anyway, that he wants to sell it to Luthen Rael, someone who seemed to have piqued interest in him and not what's inside?

Star Wars: Andor: What is Inside the Box?
Star Wars: Andor dropped its first three episodes on the same day and it dives deep into the roots of the titular hero as to how he ended up being a spy for the Rebel Alliance. It took one box to literally lead him to Luthen Rael.
In the first episode, Cassian Andor took down two Imperial guards and this led to a search party by Syril Karn at Ferrix. Thus, Andor needs a way out and that is costly so he needs more credits.
Andor gets a mysterious box and goes to Bix Caleen to set up a sale for someone she knows. It will be 40,000 credits and it turns out, the buyer is Luthen Rael, Stellan Skarsgård's character.
Why would a box cost 40,000 credits, you may ask? Well, it contains an untraceable NS-9 Starpath Unit, one that is used by spaceships for navigation, but this one is quite special! It makes the ship where it is attached to basically invisible to the Imperial, thus, the Empire cannot detect it.

Other than some cloaking on the ship it is attached to, this certain untraceable NS-9 Starpath Unit gives its user sight of Imperial spaceships within the distance of nine parsecs. Imagine how precious it would be for the Rebel Alliance, right?
However, other than the untraceable NS-9 Starpath Unit which Rael explains to be stolen from Steergard's Imperial Naval base, he seems more interested to Cassian as to how he could possibly got the box without detection.
See, the box isn't the reason why the Pre-Mor puts up a search for Cassian, it's because of the guards he killed. So it only means that the taking of the untraceable NS-9 Starpath Unit has been undetected and with Rael forming the Alliance, he could use someone like Cassian on his side.
