When is the Premiere Date of Star Wars: Andor Episode 1? – September 21, 2022

Star Wars: Andor dropped an announcement of the new release date of the three-episode premiere of the series on Disney Plus on September 21, 2022. It is originally scheduled to release in 2021.

It was then moved due to the delay in the production due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the schedule was supposedly by the end of August but the final date has been changed to September 21st.

The release date of Star Wars: Andor has been confirmed in both the official trailer and the official poster of the series teasing the beginning of the Rebellion, one of the turning points of the narrative of the galaxy far, far away.

What is the Plot of Star Wars: Andor?

The official synopsis of the Star Wars: Andor is as follows:

"Andor will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero."

It will be following the titular Cassian Andor as he opens the eyes of the people to an unknown story on how the Rebellion started in a new perspective of the galaxy far, far away. It is set five years prior to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Star Wars: Andor's official trailer unveils a lot of things that the series will unpack as it goes through Cassian Andor's story of being in the center of the birth of the Rebel Alliance.

The Imperial Star Destroyer opens the trailer as it hovers around a planet and it proceeds to Cassian standing over the rubble of his home, Fest, a place that was taken down by the Empire. Andor is seen to infiltrate the Empire and this is where his espionage starts as Luthen Rael arrives.

Saw Gerrera talks with Luthen Rael, Mon Mothma speaks with the Imperial Senate, and the Rebellion looms in the distance. Cassian closes the trailer saying, "I'm tired of losing."

Diego Luna banners Star Wars: Andor as Cassian Andor and he would be joined by Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma who first debuted in Revenge of the Sith and appeared on Rogue One, and Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael who is another spy of the Alliance recruiting Andor.

Forest Whitaker reprises his role as Saw Gerrera from Rogue One, and other cast members of Star Wars: Andor include Fiona Shaw as Maarva, Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Denise Gough as Supervisor Dedra Meero, and Kyle Soller as Syril Karn.

Star Wars: Andor is created by Tony Gilroy based on the lore of George Lucas. The executive producers of the series are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Diego Luna, Michelle Rejwan, and Sanne Wohlenberg. Jonathan Freeman and Adriano Goldman helms the cinematography of the series.

Star Wars: Andor will be having 12 episodes throughout the first season and the second run of the series is expected to follow the same number of episodes. The first three episodes of Star Wars: Andor will be released at once on September 21st.

The series will be releasing once a week after the three-episode premiere and it will be out every Wednesday. Star Wars: Andor is expected to end on November 23 with its 12th episode should there be no delays on its weekly release.
