There were a lot of awesome surprises in the first Ahsoka trailer and as expected, we got to see most of the Star Wars Rebels characters who will be getting their live-action debut. However, the teaser also confirmed the return of an important character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. We just got to see Professor Huyang who will once again be voiced by Doctor Who actor David Tennant.
The Ahsoka teaser was an action-packed preview of what to expect in the upcoming Star Wars show. However, it also teases the emotional turmoils that Ahsoka Tano has to face. "The Jedi fell a long time ago," she says in the trailer. "There aren't many left."
Despite this pessimistic line, someone is here to offer hope. "Perhaps it is time to begin again," Professor Huyang says.
It's an awesome reveal considering that Huyang is the one droid who can help rebuild the ways of the Jedi. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Professor Huyang is an architect droid who guided Jedi Initiates in constructing their lightsabers. As a droid who has been around for thousands of years, he is the one who is most knowledgeable about the ways of the Jedi at this time.
We're loving how Professor Huyang appears to have been given a major upgrade and it's satisfying to know that the droid will still be voiced by David Tennant in Ahsoka. With that in mind, we can't wait to see how Huyang can help Ahsoka and her friends later this August.
Ahsoka will also star Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson as Baylan, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma, and Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth. Ivanna Sakhno will play a mysterious Sith while the actor who will portray Grand Admiral Thrawn has not yet been announced. The series will premiere on Disney+ in August 2023.
