The Yu Yu Hakusho live-action is finally here, which means Yusuke has to face different kinds of villains once again! One of the most iconic villains in the series is Shinobu Sensui, whom Yusuke faced during the Chapter Black Saga. He is a former spirit detective, but how strong is Sensui, and what are his powers in Yu Yu Hakusho?

Who Is Sensui in Yu Yu Hakusho?
Before Yusuke Urameshi became a spirit detective, Koenma had Shinobu Sensui, who, at such a young age, had always had immense supernatural and spiritual power.
Sensui is naturally gifted, which means he can see demons, spirits, apparitions, and other things that ordinary humans can’t see, whether he likes it or not.
Unlike ordinary humans his age, Sensui has a black-and-white view of the world. This means that he believes that humans are good and demons are evil.
His sense of justice is also unrivaled, which makes him the perfect Spirit Detective candidate, especially in the eyes of Koenma.
At first, Sensui had no problems working under Koenma. He does his spirit detective job well, and it doesn’t bother him to slay demons one after the other like Yusuke did in his early days.
Everything changed when Sensui encountered the demon Itsuki, who, on the brink of his death, asked Sensui to give him another day to watch his favorite TV show.
It fascinated Sensui, who couldn’t believe that a demon like Itsuki would ask such a mundane thing to do in the face of death.
Eventually, Sensui partnered with Itsuki, and his world was turned upside down.
After crashing the Feast of Human Vices, Sensui was disgusted at all the outrageous acts and deeds humans do in killing and torturing demons for their own amusement.
What happens after? Sensui finally snapped, and he went on a rampage, killing all the humans in sight.
As such, he began thinking about the demons he had killed in the past as if he regretted killing them.
The last straw was the hideous scene Sensui witnessed, which led to his subconsciously developing a dissociative identity disorder.
Koenma dismissed Sensui from his job, and the latter went in the wrong direction.
How Strong Is Sensui and What Are His Powers in Yu Yu Hakusho?
Shinobu Sensui is one of the strongest villains in Yu Yu Hakusho, capable of killing Yusuke Urameshi. He has immense supernatural and spiritual powers, ten times more than Yusuke has, making him a force to be reckoned with.
If Sensui was a demon, he would be at an S-class level. His fighting style is called Reiko Resshuken (Reshyuken), which is an elegant fighting style that relies on the fighter’s footwork.
He combines energy and style as one to enhance his offensive and defensive force.
Most notably, Sensui has six different personalities who each have their skills, abilities, personalities, and specialties. They are Minoru, Kazuya, Naru, George, Makoto, and Hitoshi.
Sensui can also use sacred energy, which, according to Koenma, is the highest echelon of power, said to be the purest and most powerful kind.
Will Sensui Appear in the Yu Yu Hakusho Live-Action?
As of writing, it hasn’t been confirmed if Sensui will appear in the live-action of Yu Yu Hakusho. They haven’t cast the actor for Sensui, and it looks like the live-action will not adapt the Chapter Black Saga of the series for now.
Perhaps we can see his backside by the end of the live-action, similar to how Smoker was shown in the post-credits scene of the first season of the One Piece Live-Action.
After all, Sensui appeared in the ruins of the Dark Tournament.
