Sam Rockwell made his MCU debut when he played the villainous Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2 back in 2010. While the character survived the events of the film, he still has not made a major comeback in the franchise.

So far, the only appearances that the Oscar winner has made since then are a cameo in the short film All Hail the King and a guest voice role in the second season of What If...? animated series.

There have been rumors for a while that Rockwell may finally make his MCU return in the upcoming film Armor Wars, but no confirmation has been made yet at this point.

Now, the actor has finally set the record straight on his rumored MCU comeback.

During his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (via ComicBook.com), Sam Rockwell addressed his rumored MCU return in Armor Wars.

He said that he is waiting for a call from Marvel Studios to make it happen, but he is game to reprise the role of Justin Hammer.

"Well, I'm waiting for the phone call... I haven't gotten the phone call, no. I'm growing the beard and everything. Listen, I'm in dude. Yeah, let's go," Rockwell told Fallon in the interview.

While we have no confirmation that the Oscar winner is indeed making his MCU return, it is exciting to hear nonetheless that he is open to playing Justin Hammer again and hopefully, it will happen sooner rather than later.

Now that we recently saw the actor reprise the role (albeit through voice performance) in What If...?, it made fans clamor more to see more of the character in the MCU, and Armor Wars is the best way for them to bring him back.

We've also seen in recent MCU releases that Marvel Studios has the penchant now to bring back the characters from earlier movies and continue their journey whether it's Baron Zemo or Trevor Slattery so it feels inevitable at this point that they'll do the same with Justin Hammer soon.

Marvel Studios has not set a release window yet for Armor Wars.
