Josh Brolin made a huge mark in the MCU thanks to his powerful performance as Thanos in the Infinity Saga, especially in the last two Avengers movies where he prominently served as the villain against our favorite heroes.

While the character officially met his demise in Endgame, he still made an appearance through his different variants in the What If...? animated series and was name-dropped several times in many post-Infinity Saga projects.

There have been rumors for a while that the character may appear again in the MCU despite his death. However, considering that we are in the Multiverse Saga, there is certainly a possibility to bring him back in some capacity.

Now, the actor has weighed in on his rumored return as the Mad Titan.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Josh Brolin addressed his rumored return as Thanos in the MCU and the possibility of playing the role again.

He revealed that he is aware of the rumors, but he is not sure whether Marvel Studios will bring back his character into the fold aside from his appearances in What If...?

"You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they're gonna bring him back," he said.

"And there's the What If...? series and that's a different kind of Thanos and all that. But I don't know in the Marvel world whether they're going to bring him back, but I didn't know that he was the most killed-off Marvel villain ... You learn something new every day."

While we have no confirmation of the villain's return yet, Brolin is definitely aware that there is word going around regarding his potential comeback and it sounds like he might be open to the idea if ever he gets asked.

However, it is also likely that the actor will only reprise the role through voice performances in What If...? where the character could logically return in various ways without ruining what the live-action projects did.

It is also clear at this point that Marvel Studios is more focused on introducing new characters and villains as well as bringing back the ones from non-MCU projects so a Thanos return may not be as inevitable as the rumors might suggest.
