Sam Levinson's latest TV offering, The Idol, faces a huge backlash due to its "extreme nudity" and other controversies. As it has now become the lowest-rated HBO series on Rotten Tomatoes, there are fears that it may affect Euphoria Season 3.

Aside from The Idol controversies, Euphoria Season 3 is also affected by the ongoing Writer's Guild strike. As this may delay the Zendaya-led series' release more, there are theories that these issues may drive the fans away.

The Issues Affecting Euphoria Season 3

According to Screen Rant, if The Idol doesn't win the viewers, this may mean bad for Euphoria.

It may affect how valuable HBO sees the two shows' showrunner, Levinson.

The coming-of-age series used to be the talk of the town until different dramas started to mar the show.

The new season has become less anticipated. The claims that it will have a major time jump, which is seen to mess up its unfinished storylines, may also affect the show.

The series' delay will only make it "less relevant." Add to that the controversies The Idol is facing, and it will be hard for Levinson to redeem himself.

So, HBO may end up letting him go, along with his content, including Euphoria Season 3.

What Will Happen in Euphoria Season 3?

HBO has picked up Euphoria for a third season after the second season's success. So, what will happen in the third iteration?

Though the third installment can pick up the second season's events, the story may continue in East Highland High anymore.

The show's costume designer Heidi Bivens told Vogue the third season might feature a major time jump, taking fans a few years to the future.

"I'm really excited to read the scripts. There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future, and that they're not in high school anymore," she said.

"Dorothy's not in Kansas anymore. I mean, it might be a total trip," she continued. "Who can say? But knowing Sam's brain, it's gonna be exciting, and he will challenge all of us because he won't want to repeat himself. It'll be something new for the audience to discover."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya had already hinted at this time-jump possibility.

If she had it her way, she wanted Euphoria Season 3 to "explore the characters' lives post-graduation."

"I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look," she stated. "But also with all the characters, in the sense where they're trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be."

"What was special about this [past] season was that we got to dive into [the other characters] in a much deeper sense. I think we can do that again with the third season," she continued. "There's so much talent, you want to make sure everybody has the chance to have that."
