Red Velvet Joy will take a break after her recent health issue affected the girl group's R to V world tour.

Earlier this month, Red Velvet confirmed the dates and venues for its R to V world tour. It started the Korean leg at the KSPO Dome on April 1 and 2, while the Asian tour began on April 21 at the Star Theatre in Singapore.

However, Joy experienced a health problem on the first show of the Asian tour, leading her and her agency to postpone her upcoming shows.

Red Velvet Joy To Take a Break Due to Health Issues

On Wednesday, Red Velvet and Joy's agency SM Entertainment announced the K-pop idol's temporary hiatus. In a statement (via EDaily), the company said that the We Got Married star consulted a health professional due to a poor health condition.

After the consultation and examination, the doctor reportedly advised her to undergo treatment and take rest. As a result, they decided to have Joy take a break from the scheduled activities so she could focus on her recovery.

"We apologize to fans for causing concern, and we ask for the generous understanding of fans that this decision was made after thorough discussion for the sake of Joy's health," it went on.

SM Entertainment promised fans that it would do its best to help Joy recover, adding that it would inform everyone once she could resume her activities with the group.

What Happened to Red Velvet Joy?

The news came out after Red Velvet Joy seemingly missed the remaining part of the group's R to V concert in Singapore.

She joined the four members during the Feel My Rhythm and Queendom performances. But after playing one of the VCRs, only the four members appeared on stage to perform I Just.

Wendy then told the crowd that Joy fell ill and that she could not perform for the rest of the concert.

"She said to us not to worry, she's okay. She just wanted to show you guys a better performance later on, so she doesn't want you guys to worry that much," Wendy continued.

Despite not appearing on stage, Joy impressed everyone when she continued singing from the backstage.
