Obi-Wan Series Responsible for Beloved Star Wars Show Getting Pushed Back to Late 2022

There's no doubt that Lucasfilm currently has a lot on its plate and thanks to the success of the production company's first Disney+ venture The Mandalorian, the Star Wars franchise is now in the midst of a massive expansion that officially kicks off with The Book of Boba Fett which reportedly wrapped up filming just recently. Just as the show finished its production, another anticipated project is currently in the works as filming for the standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi show is underway.

However, we've got some bad news for you, Star Wars fans. The upcoming series led by the returning Ewan McGregor is reportedly responsible for the delay of The Mandalorian's follow-up season which was expected to hit the streaming service in early 2022. According to a report from Collider, Season 3, which was originally scheduled to begin filming last April won't be moving forward with its production anytime soon since Obi-Wan is still in the middle of filming.

The site also notes that Pedro Pascal's packed schedule is also one of the factors hindering The Mandalorian Season 3 from kickstarting its production and it's looking very likely that the unfortunate filming delay will result in its premiere being pushed back to late 2022. If that's the case, it's safe to assume that the delay will have a direct effect on other shows like Ahsoka which is also set within the Mandoverse timeline.

It can't be denied that Pascal has become so in-demand thanks to his successful stint in The Mandalorian and while the delay sounds a little frustrating especially for diehard fans of the show, looking at the brighter side of things, more Star Wars content is on its way so it's not all that bad.

No official release date for Obi-Wan has been announced.
