It can't be denied that the entire Star Wars franchise is experiencing a huge resurgence thanks to the success of The Mandalorian. The show, led by Pedro Pascal and the adorable Baby Yoda pretty much opened the doors for other Lucasfilm projects to be in development over at Disney.

One of which is the highly anticipated standalone Ahsoka Tano series starring Rosario Dawson who became an overnight sensation following her grand appearance in TheMandalorian Season 2. The exciting new show was announced during Disney's Investor Day last December but apparently, Ahsoka may have been responsible for another fan-favorite show getting scrapped.

Kessel Run Transmissions reports that the future of Star Wars Rebels is in doubt but worry not, as the animated show's story will carry over to live-action via the aforementioned Ahsoka series. "There has been a conversation between Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni as to whether this live-action Rebels sequel is going to be live-action or animation, but it sounds like the way that the conversation had gone is that Rebels sequel being live-action, and that specifically being the Ahsoka series on Disney+."

The animated series made a mark and has instantly become a hit amongst viewers. Sure, it will be missed but considering that Ahsoka seems to tease the inclusion of Rebels characters, most especially Grand Admiral Thrawn, there's no point for the animated version to continue airing episodes as it could only cause confusion for a lot of people especially casual fans.

Ahsoka's release date has yet to be confirmed.
