Obi-Wan Kenobi was always intended as a six-episode limited series when it aired on Disney+ during the summer of last year. However, several fans are still hoping that it will get a second season and feature more adventures of the titular Jedi before the events of A New Hope.

Ewan McGregor himself has also publicly expressed his interest to continue playing the role in a potential second season of the series.

So far, Lucasfilm has not laid out any official plans to do a second season and they are more focused on the other TV projects that they are currently working on which are mostly set around the "MandoVerse."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow was asked whether she had conversations with McGregor regarding a potential second season of the series.

While she didn't definitely say that they are going to work on another season of the series, Chow did tease that she and the Emmy-winning actor were toying with ideas since there are still ten years left before the events of A New Hope.

"You always think you’re going to end a series like this in some magnificent way, but instead you end up in a parking lot with second unit and hardly anybody there," she said.

"It’s always so anticlimactic, but as Ewan and I finished our very last shot on second unit and I was literally taking off my headphones, he was already pitching me ideas for season two. There’s another 10 years with plenty of stories, and I don’t think it’s off the board. It is a 'never say never' situation, but we really did conceive this to be a limited series."

This is an encouraging update for fans who have been hoping that a second season could still happen since the key creatives behind the series are still toying with the idea and it shows that it wouldn't be out of left field if Lucasfilm decides to extend the series' run.
