There is no doubt that Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1 neatly sets up and ties the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope all together as a miniseries in the Star Wars franchise. However, is an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 in the works? The Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series marked Ewan McGregor’s return since Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and fans have been eager upon making his return, so it is only natural to expect a Season 2 coming soon.
McGregor opens up has high hopes for an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 in a recent interview with Disney Studio Awards where the actor also fondly recalls his time on set filming for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1. Check out his full quote below:
“I was so happy to do it again, and so happy to work with Hayden [Christensen] again, and I hope we get the chance to do it again.” McGregor said, “In the old days, I would joke about, “There must be a good story to tell between Episode III and Episode IV. But it’s true. I always felt that there was.”

Apart from the hype of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s return in a miniseries, it was actually McGregor who insisted and practically begged Disney for his comeback. Given the satisfaction behind finishing the aforementioned series both for the fans and cast, McGregor still hopes for a second season return.
“I feel like Deborah Chow found it and absolutely nailed it.” McGregor said, “Like, just found the story that we wanted to see between the last one that we did and first that was done in [1977]... And I think it just adds to our knowledge of the characters, and it’s satisfying… for the fans.”
It is difficult to see an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 since the franchise is likely to focus more on The Mandalorian Season 3, and Andor Season 2, with even the director Deborah Chow admitting that the show is already “a completed story.” There are no official announcements for Season 2 yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on this story.
