Netflix is set to release a lot of interesting anime this year, and now, another one has been confirmed to premiere soon. That’s because Netflix announced The Grimm Variations anime’s April release date.
This upcoming anime is an unusual one, as it’s about half the length of a typical anime.
Despite being a short series, the fact that it’s an adaptation of classic fairy tales should make it an interesting watch for most anime fans.
What Is The Grimm Variations Anime About?
The Grimm Variations is an anthology anime series based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. This project was announced back in February 2020 by Netflix, and it’s a collaboration with the iconic manga group CLAMP.
Most anime fans should be familiar with CLAMP. After all, the group is behind iconic manga like Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, and xxxHolic, among others.
Aside from their manga work, CLAMP has also provided character designs for several popular anime, such as Code Geass and Blood-C.
As for its story, The Grimm Variations promises to have a unique take on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales.
It’s not clear yet which specific fairy tales will be adapted, but what’s certain is that they will feature some horror elements.

Meet the Studio and Staff of The Grimm Variations Anime
For this anime, CLAMP is handling character design duties. The group also created teaser visuals for the upcoming series.
Writing the series’ script is Michiko Yokote, a popular screenwriter who is best known for working on shows such as Bleach, Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, and Gintama.
Also part of the show’s staff is music composer Akira Miyagi. He has worked on music for anime such as Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
Meanwhile, anime studio Production I.G (of Heavenly Delusion and Psycho-Pass fame) is handling animation duties. This means Production I.G has two shows coming this April, as Kaiju No.8 is also premiering soon.

The Grimm Variations Anime Reveals April Release Date on Netflix
Netflix recently revealed that The Grimm Variations will be released on April 17, 2024. The show will only have six episodes, though it’s not clear if they will be released once a week.
Typically, Netflix-produced anime get all their episodes released in one day. Of course, there are some exceptions, so fans will need to wait a bit longer to determine this anime’s release schedule.
