Kento Nanami's Last Moments
The Shibuya Incident arc was really merciless on Nanami. After his rocking defeat of Haruta, things went from bad to worse for the beloved mentor-like character.
First, he gets trapped in Dagon's domain, and the moment he escapes — heavily injured — half his side is burnt by a grieving Jogo.
Still, he uses the last of his strength to eliminate the transfigured humans, all while hallucinating about Kuantan in Malaysia, a place where he would like to retire.
This is one of the saddest and most emotional send-offs in the anime so far, and fans will remember it for a long time.
Why Does Nanami Want to Go to Malaysia? The Best Fan Theories
There's no doubt that for Nanami, Malaysia is a dream location since he thinks about it during his final moments, amidst other regrets.
Malaysian fans of Jujutsu Kaisen are loving the latest episode, but is there a reason for Nanami's preference?
The shounen anime has a bad habit of jumping from battle to battle, rarely taking a pause for introspection and grief, so Nanami's love for Malaysia hasn't been officially explained, but there are theories.
A Dream Place to Visit
We all have a place in the world that we really want to visit, sometimes without particular logic behind it. As a pretty realistic character who used to be a salaryman, Nanami is probably no exception.
Based on the images we see in the anime and the photo a Reddit user shared of the real-life place, Kuantan Beach looks beautiful and peaceful.
Perhaps this is just what Nanami needed after his stressful life.
An Ideal Retirement Home
Nanami's internal monologue suggests that Kuantan in Malaysia was the place where he wanted to build his home post-retirement. In the mind of Nanami, Malaysia is associated with unfulfilled wishes:
Malaysia.......Kuantan would be nice. Build a house on a secluded beach, finally get around to the countless books I've bought but never read, go through them page by page.....kinda like taking back the time I've lost.

A Place to Go With Haibara?
In his last moments, Nanami has a vision of Haibara, which alerts him to Yuji's presence. Could Malaysia be a place he wishes he could have visited with his classmate?
Haibara's death greatly affected Nanami and probably influenced his decision to leave the jujutsu world for a while.
Whatever Malaysia really means to Nanami, we hope that, if there is an afterlife, it will take him to his dream location.
