Lee Gang-hoon (played by Kim Do-hoon) is one of the teenagers who keep their superpowers hidden from their peers. He is a school leader, who keeps a quiet facade in front of everyone.

When faced with adversity, however, Gang-hoon does not think twice to protect himself or the people he cares about. This is the case when he protects Jang Hui-soo (played by Go Youn-jung) from their classmate, Bang Ki-soo (played by Shin Jae-hwi).

Gang-hoon inherited his father's extraordinary speed and strength. He possessed these powers ever since he was still young.

Prior to the episode revealing his backstory, we see Jae-man as someone who patiently waits for his son to come home from school.

He always sits on the same spot outside their shop, whether it rains or snows. Jae-man always has his eyes glued to his watch as he counts the minutes for Gang-hoon to come home.

And when he looks up to find his son in front of him, he smiles brightly. He also showers his son with overflowing love, as evident in his text that reads:

"Dad will protect you until the end."

Now that his backstory has been revealed, we learn there is more to Jae-man than just a doting father. In fact, his capacity to protect his family is put to the test every time his family is in trouble.

This is why Jae-man has a criminal record and is on house arrest. When Gang-hoon was young, Jae-man got in trouble with the law for protecting his family. The police, however, arrested him and put him in jail for years.

As a result, he was unable to be with Gang-hoon while he was growing up. When he finally got a chance to come home, Gang-hoon was already a young boy. He had to start over and build a relationship with him.

Unfortunately, a demolition team came and Jae-man's wife got involved in the protesters. As the authorities were rounding off the protestors, Jae-man misunderstood the situation and tried to rescue her.

This led the police to go after him and even call Jang Ju-won (played by Ryu Seung-ryong) for help. When Ju-won realized Jae-man was harmless, he let him go.

Jae-man kept his promise and came home just before Gang-hoon's bedtime. However, the police came to arrest him.

This angered Gang-hoon and led to the discovery of his powers. While the NIS director, Min Yong-jun (played by Moon Sung-keun), thought Jae-man was useless, he got interested in Gang-hoon's potential. This led to the formation of the NTDP.

In the present day, Gang-hoon is preparing to join the National Intelligence Service so that his father's criminal record can be expunged. As a class representative for his batch, he knows the other kids who have superpowers.

Meanwhile, Jae-man has been placed on house arrest, with a monitor on his ankle. His wife has also been released and is back home.
