Fan-favorite Star Wars character Asajj Ventress is set to make a surprise return in the upcoming third and final season of The Bad Batch despite already supposedly having died in the Dark Disciple novel.

It is unknown yet why the character is exactly making her return in the series whether she was resurrected or her scenes would simply be part of flashback sequences.

Now, it looks like she might make more appearances in the future aside from her upcoming The Bad Batch return.

Speaking with The Direct, Star Wars: The Bad Batch head writer Jennifer Corbett and supervising director Brad Rau teased that Asajj Ventress might make appearances in future projects following her return.

First, they assured that the character's upcoming appearance will not contradict the events of Dark Disciple where she met her demise.

"Yeah, I mean, we're huge Ventress fans. And when we talked with our creative team to figure out that we could bring her into the storyline. We were very excited," Rau said.

"We pulled designs from unaired arcs of the Clone Wars which inspired the novel Dark Disciple, and we're not contradicting anything that happened in Dark Disciple."

She went on to reveal that the character might get explored more down the line after her appearance in the upcoming season of The Bad Batch.

Rau added, "But I will say that not all of the answers to the mystery of interest will be told in The Bad Batch show. There may be future answers down the road in something else. But it was really great to have that character in our show to interact with our characters. [It] was really cool."

It is an interesting tidbit about the character since it looks like Lucasfilm is really interested in exploring more of Asajj Ventress despite her death and they are finding ways to bring her back while still respecting what the canon has established.

We will never know what those future plans could be until we watch the upcoming season of The Bad Batch and learn the context of her surprise return to the series.

The third and final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is set to premiere on Disney+ this February 21.
