Marvel Studios has finally released the first trailer for the upcoming series Echo which will follow Maya Lopez's next adventure after the events of Hawkeye and explore her origins and her tumultuous relationship with Kingpin.

They also announced that all episodes of the series will be released on Wednesday, January 10 on Disney+ and Hulu. It is also rated as TV-MA, making it the first MCU TV series to do so.

The series was previously set to release at the end of this month, but it was delayed to January due to the recent Hollywood strikes and changes in Marvel Studios' release calendar for their upcoming TV releases.

The First Echo Trailer Teases a Darker Route for the MCU Series

The two-minute-long preview gave us our very first glimpse at the upcoming series which is seemingly going to be darker than any other MCU shows in the past as teased by the violent scenes that they showed in the footage.

While they didn't give us a wider idea about the exact plot of the series, it looks like it is going to be revenge-driven since it was revealed in Hawkeye that it was Kingpin who is responsible for the death of Maya's father.

The series is also set to explore the origins of Maya as teased by the various moments in the trailer including a flashback scene at the beginning with Kingpin's attack on the ice cream vendor who poked fun and refused to serve Maya.

They also showed a brief shot of Charlie Cox's Daredevil, who was fighting against Maya. We don't know yet what led to the moment between the two characters, but fans are definitely happy to see the hero appear in the trailer.

The biggest takeaway is the show's grittier and darker tone since most MCU shows have been palatable to its core family-friendly audience. That will not be the case for this series given its TV-MA rating and being available concurrently on Hulu, which is considered to be the home for Disney's mature content.

Hopefully, the series will end up delivering somewhat despite the reports that its production was experiencing a lot of behind-the-scenes issues that have concerned fans for months.
