Margot Robbie was recently asked in an interview about her potential return as Harley Quinn now that the franchise is being rebooted with the new DCU and Lady Gaga is also set to play the role in Joker: Folie à Deux.

While she didn't definitively say whether she will reprise the role in the reboot, she did express her interest in seeing other actresses play the character.

Her response prompted concern for some fans since they believe that it suggested that Robbie might no longer return to the role in the future and the DCU will potentially move on with a different actress instead.

Now, the co-chairman of DC Studios has set the record straight on Robbie's potential future in the DCU.

A fan recently asked James Gunn on Threads regarding the comments that Margot Robbie made regarding her potential future as Harley Quinn in the DCU.

The DC Studios co-chairman revealed that he hasn't talked with the actress for a long time regarding her potential involvement in the franchise, but he would love to see her play Harley Quinn again or in a different role instead.

"I haven’t talked to Margot about Harley for a long time. But I’d love to work with her again as Harley or as someone else. There are no plans at this time for anyone else to play Harley (I mean, other than in Todd [Phillips]’s movie or the animated show/s.)," he wrote in his response.

It sounds like no official decision has been made yet regarding Robbie's future as Harley Quinn in the DCU since the character is also not yet part of any of the early projects in the franchise that are currently in the works.

Robbie is also one of the busiest actresses at the moment, especially in the aftermath of the huge success of Barbie which solidified her as one of the biggest A-list stars in Hollywood today.

It is hard to tell at the moment whether the actress will eventually agree to play Harley again in the DCU, but fans are definitely hoping that she will have time to continue her tenure in the role again.
