The rumor mill seemingly won't stop spinning when it comes to the DC Universe. The rebooted franchise, which is set to kickstart in 2025 is something fans have been keeping a close eye on, especially with the DC Extended Universe (aka the SnyderVerse) set to conclude this month.

Now, it looks like James Gunn and Peter Safran are adding more actors to the mix as they reestablish the DC film and television franchise. If the latest rumors are to be believed, the DCU may have already found its potential replacement for Sasha Calle's Supergirl and it's not someone fans would expect.

Taking to The Hot Mic podcast, industry insider John Rocha revealed that Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline could be heading to the "new" DCU. According to the tipster, Cline could be in the running to play the Girl of Steel in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow which is currently in development.

Apart from the aforementioned series, the 25-year-old actress also made appearances in Stranger Things, The Originals, What Breaks the Ice, and Glass Onion.

Previously, the role was played by Sasha Calle in the DCEU but it looks like her future in the franchise as the Man of Steel's cousin is in doubt.

As it stands, Warner Bros. and DC Studios have yet to confirm whether or not they're in talks with Cline. But leave it to co-CEO James Gunn to debunk it immediately if there's no truth behind the latest rumor.

We have to say though, Cline certainly fits the bill, especially with the DCU wanting to feature a younger set of actors for key roles. But for now, let's just wait for the official announcement.

Meanwhile, the DCEU's final film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is slated for release in theaters this December 22.
