We've been hearing a lot of casting news for Superman: Legacy lately as they are gearing up to begin production by early next year. For the most part, fans have been delighted with the updates regarding the actors who have joined the DCU film.

A report came from The Hollywood Reporter recently that Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis, has joined the cast of Superman: Legacy for a mysterious role.

Considering that James Gunn has a penchant for working with actors that he likes in multiple projects, it's not surprising that he would recruit an actor from the MCU trilogy and collaborate again in the DCU project.

However, as it turns out, that casting was not true at all.

Right after the THR article was published, Gunn immediately debunked Klementieff's alleged casting in Superman: Legacy in a post on Threads.

While the director would love to work with the actress again, he explained that there was never a conversation to cast her in the movie.

"Despite Pom being one of my favorite actors to work with, this is 100% not true. Not only is Pom not in the movie, but no one has ever even discussed her being in the movie, nor do I have any idea what role she would possibly play," Gunn wrote in his post.

In the same THR article, it was also reported that Miriam Shor, who played Recorder Vim in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is in early talks to join Superman: Legacy. Gunn said in a separate Threads post that she "isn't presently cast" in anything.

It is unclear yet why a mistake was made on the report, but it is rare to happen in a trade publication which is usually reliable as they have insider sources.

There is no doubt that it would have been great to see Klementieff get involved in the DCU movie since she is a good actress as we've seen in her performances as Mantis, but it looks like she won't be jumping ship to another comic book movie franchise anytime soon.

Perhaps we'll still see Klementieff join the DCU at some point in the future, but we can certainly say for now that her debut won't be in the Man of Steel movie.

Superman: Legacy is slated for release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
