Even though his wife is suffering from stage 4 gastric cancer, he manages to cheat on her with her best friend, Jung Soo-min (played by Song Ha-yoon). When he also learns that his wife is sick, he takes out an insurance policy and plans to spend that money on his mistress.
Although he doesn't really love her, he won't accept Ji-won's breakup since he believes she is wife material. But then again, he also doesn't want to let go of Soo-min.

No, Min-hwan doesn't change anything when Ji-won goes to the past. Instead, Ji-won gets to discover his true personality and how he started to cheat on her with Soo-min.
Even though Ji-won asks to break up with him, he threatens to hit her. Knowing what happened the last time he did, Ji-won cowers in fear. She realizes that her future is up to her to change.
Instead of waiting for Min-hwan to change, Ji-won starts to pursue her dreams and does things that will help protect her in the future.
One way she does this is by taking Judo lessons with Yoo Ji-hyuk (played by Na In-woo) so she can protect herself from Min-hwan.
In due time, she can use the lessons she learned and Min-hwan is never able to hurt her again.
