It has been quite a run for Land of the Lustrous, but the manga is finally ending soon. In the latest issue of Monthly Afternoon, the Land of the Lustrous April ending date was announced.
With this, one of the magazine’s most popular and praised titles is concluding. While some fans hoped to get more chapters, it’s still a great run for the manga, given that it has been ongoing for over a decade.
Acclaimed Manga Land of the Lustrous Is Ending after over a Decade
The Land of the Lustrous manga began in October 2012, and it has since become one of the most popular titles in the Monthly Afternoon magazine.
This is a big feat considering how the magazine has lots of notable manga such as Vinland Saga, Heavenly Delusion, Skip and Loafer, and Medalist, among many others.
What makes the series popular is its unique post-apocalyptic setting and the fact that it follows a group of sentient jewels.
Its popularity was no doubt helped by the anime adaptation by studio Orange (of Beastars fame), which was released in 2017.
Aside from getting acclaim from critics, the manga is also a certified hit. For reference, the manga was reported to have over 1.8 million copies in circulation back in 2018.
The circulation numbers are likely even higher now.
When Is the Land of the Lustrous Manga Ending Date?
In the latest Monthly Afternoon issue, the Land of the Lustrous manga was confirmed to end, with the last chapter set to be released in the magazine’s June 2024 issue.
That doesn’t mean the manga will end in June. After all, manga magazines typically have dates later than their actual release date.
Thus, the Land of the Lustrous manga's official ending date is April 25, 2024, the release date of the magazine’s June issue. As for the chapter, the manga ends in chapter 108.

Will the Land of the Lustrous Anime Ever Get a Season 2? Our Predictions
With the manga set to end, some fans are wondering what this will mean for a potential second anime season.
Even though the anime got a great reception, it has not been renewed for a new season. Given that it has been over six years since the first season, the anime being renewed may not be likely.
Still, the chances of it getting a new season are not zero. After all, some anime such as Spice and Wolf have taken a decade or more before a new season was produced.
