With the show’s premiere just a week away, KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! released a new preview for Episode 1 that features screenshots from the series premiere.
As expected, these screenshots highlight Megumin, Yunyun, and the rest of the Crimson Demons of their village.
While the preview did not come with a new trailer for the first episode, the show’s official website did share a synopsis for the premiere episode with details about what to expect from its story.
KonoSuba Megumin Spinoff
Every season, there’s a new isekai anime that’s released, which is not surprising given the genre’s popularity.
While some fans have gotten tired of isekai, there are still some interesting isekai shows that twist genre conventions.
One of those is KonoSuba, which is a hilarious take on the genre as it shows what happens if a shut-in gets transported into another world with a party full of eccentric adventurers (though "eccentric" is putting it mildly).
Thanks to the show’s success, a third season has been confirmed. But before Season 3, the KonoSuba Explosion spinoff will be the first to air.
Based on the light novel spinoff of the same name, KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! will follow Megumin, one of Kazuma’s party members. This spinoff will detail Megumin’s past before she joins Kazuma and company.
In the KonoSuba movie, the party visited the Crimson Demon Village. This new spinoff will once again be set in that village, but it will be interesting to see the state of it ahead of the main series’ events.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! Episode 1 Preview, Release Date
As it follows Megumin's past adventures, the preview screenshots feature a younger Megumin.
The preview images also show Megumin’s “rival” in Yunyun, as well as her equally weird parents and sibling.
There’s also an image of Megumin alongside her classmates in school, with all of them sharing the same uniform.
Though from the looks of it, Megumin’s chuunibyou tendencies are already apparent even in her younger days.
Unlike the first two seasons which were made by Studio Deen, this KonoSuba Explosion spinoff is animated by Drive, the studio behind To Your Eternity Season 2. Drive will also handle KonoSuba’s third season.
KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! will premiere on April 6, 2023. The series is also confirmed to be simulcast on Crunchyroll.
