The Knights of the Zodiac live-action movie is finally out now in US cinemas, though its reviews leave a lot to be desired. Not to mention that there are reports about the film’s screenings struggling to get viewers.

This adaptation of the iconic Saint Seiya movie is unique among live-action anime adaptations as it is an international co-production.

For reference, most of the live-action anime-based movies are produced entirely in Japan.

Sadly, it seems that this film may not be what fans hoped for, at least based on the early reviews.

Knights of the Zodiac Live-Action Movie Opens With Low-Scored Reviews

Following the Saint Seiya movie’s official US premiere in Los Angeles which featured appearances from Mackenyu and the rest of the cast, some early reviews of the film have begun to be published online.

So far though, things aren’t looking good, as it currently has a low 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Though this may likely still change given that there are only 6 reviews counted on the site so far.

Still, it’s going to be difficult for the film to get a higher rating, at least based on these early reviews.

While some of the reviews praised the passion that went into creating the film, there were complaints about the sloppy CGI and clunky story.

On the flip side, the film does have a 75% audience score so far, though this is only based on less than 50 reviews from verified users.

While there’s still time for this to change, it might not get a lot more audience reviews based on recent reports about early screenings.

Following some early screenings, some viewers (or at least potential viewers) of the Saint Seiya film shared their experiences online.

For instance, Anime News Network Editor-at-large Mike Toole mentioned that he was supposed to watch the Knights of the Zodiac movie, though the screening was canceled as he was already inside the theater.

Toole also mentioned that the theater’s floor manager told him Sony Pictures canceled most of the Knights of the Zodiac screenings.

There’s no word yet from Sony Pictures about these canceled screenings, though there are other viewers who reported low turnouts for the film.

Some also noted the lack of promotion for it in theaters.

The Knights of the Zodiac live-action movie is out now in US cinemas, though given the recent reports, it might not be screening for long.
