Who Is Karasu in Yu Yu Hakusho?
Karasu, also known as Mad Bomber, is one of the strongest villains in Yu Yu Hakusho. He was a member of Team Toguro, which fought Yusuke Urameshi’s team in the final round of the Dark Tournament.
What makes Karasu more interesting than the others is his mysterious personality and badass character design.
He is cold and aloof, the type of villain that most people love to fuss over and speak about in the idea that he hides great abilities capable of overwhelming the series' main protagonists.
Not to mention, Karasu wears a mask, and he rarely speaks his mind. Like any other villain, Karasu doesn’t have any interest in the weak; instead, he prefers to fight those who are on the same level as him or stronger.
Karasu has a sadistic nature, contrary to his calm and collected exterior. He changes a lot whenever he takes his mask off.
This side of him shows through his preference to create bombs, grenades, and so on, to hurt his opponents, like Kurama.
In the past, Karasu stood up against the Toguro Brothers but lost in the process. To regain his honor, he swallowed his pride and joined Team Toguro in the hopes that he could kill them after the Dark Tournament.
Bear in mind that Karasu does not care about his teammates, for he doesn’t mind hurting them if they are ever caught in the crossfire of his attacks.
Does Karasu Appear in the Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action Series?
Yes, Karasu appears in the Yu Yu Hakusho live action series. He fights against Kurama on Kubikukuri Island, where Hiei’s sister, Yukina, was held captive.
In contrast to the Yu Yu Hakusho anime, Karasu fought Kurama in a vacant-looking warehouse instead of the Dark Tournament's arena.
Still, Karasu uses his demon energy to create explosives, bombs, and grenades to force Kurama’s original, beautiful form, Yoko Kurama to resurface.
Karasu, in live action, has the same belief that humans are fragile and demons are superior. He also has the same jet-black hair, black outfit, and steel mask that fans love in the Yu Yu Hakusho anime.
Who Plays Karasu in the Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action Series?
Hiroya Shimizu plays Karasu in the Yu Yu Hakusho live action series. Shimizu is a Japanese actor known for playing Shuji Hanma in the Tokyo Revengers live action film, Banjo in The Outsider, Takumi Amano in Blue, Painful, and Brittle, as well as Okamoto in My Sweet Grappa Remedies.
He also appeared in various drama series such as Absolute Zero 4 as Wataru Asai, Swindle Detective as Sagideka, We Are Rockets! as Haruma Tsubakiyama, Investor Z as Takashi Zaizen, and High School Entrance Exam as Shota Sawamura.
