The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is about to reach a major milestone. To celebrate, it was announced that a Jujutsu Kaisen live-action special video will be released on Japanese TV next week.
Not a lot of details were revealed about this live-action video, but given how it was described, it seems to be a promotional video instead of a live-action adaptation.
Whatever it is, it will surely be another treat for fans of the series, especially with the highly anticipated second season coming soon.
Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Reaches New Circulation Milestone
There are lots of popular shonen anime titles, but it’s fair to say that Jujutsu Kaisen is easily one of the biggest shonen hits in the past years.
While the manga was already fairly popular early in its run, the series became an even bigger hit both in Japan and internationally following the anime by MAPPA (of Attack on Titan: The Final Season and Chainsaw Man fame).
Since then, the manga has enjoyed a boost in popularity and sales, enough that it has become the best-selling series of 2022. And now, the manga is about to achieve another record.
Shueisha recently confirmed that the Jujutsu Kaisen manga will reach 80 million copies in circulation when Volume 23 comes out on July 4, 2023.
Take note that “copies in circulation” does not mean it has sold 80 million units. Though this number does include digital copies and not just physical versions.
Still, even if it’s not strictly a sales record, this milestone proves that the series is one of the biggest shonen titles ever, as it beats out other manga like YuYu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin.

Live-Action Jujutsu Kaisen Special Video to Be Released Soon
Following the announcement of the manga’s new circulation record, it was revealed on the official Jujutsu Kaisen Twitter account that a special live-action video will be released on July 5 at 7:00 PM JST.
According to the announcement, this video will “be a live-action video of the world view of the work.”
The post was accompanied by what seems to be an image taken at Sendai.
Based on the description and the image, this live-action video might be a new commercial for the series that’s akin to the previous Shibuya takeover that was released to promote a previous volume.
Aside from this video, fans can look forward to the premiere of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 as the first episode will release on July 6, 2023.
