Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has delighted fans with its impressive action, but it also delivered heartbreak in spades. The latest episode is no different as Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 43 featured a flashback that caused fans agony.
The flashback itself is touching, but its story reveal isn’t the reason fans are distraught. That’s because the flashback was a clear sign of heartbreak for fans.
What makes it worse is that many still aren’t over the previous episode’s tragic moment.

Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Suffer for Two Weeks in a Row
Jujutsu Kaisen's previous episode saw the death of Kento Nanami at the hands of Mahito. This was a cruel fate for him, not to mention a painful moment for Yuji Itadori.
In Episode 43, Nobara Kugisaki is shown fighting Mahito’s clone. Things looked bad for Mahito as Nobara more than matched him, forcing him to flee.
Things were looking great for Nobara and Yuji, but that was until the episode’s halfway mark as Mahito seemingly touched Nobara.
To add suspense, the episode then showed an extended flashback featuring Nobara’s younger days in her small town.
This flashback fleshed out Nobara’s backstory, which all but twisted the knife when the episode finally went back to the present.
Nobara tells Yuji that her life wasn’t bad. The left side of her face then explodes, indicating that she was touched by Mahito.

Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 43 Flashback Solidifies Nobara's Fate
After suffering heartbreak from Nanami’s scene, fans were already fearing for Nobara’s life in her fight against Mahito.
Even though things looked good as she got the upper hand, fans were troubled by the sudden flashback to Nobara’s past. After all, this is pretty much a death flag in many series.
A flashback before a character's death is a common trope in anime at this point, and some fans pointed this out. Even though it might not be the most original way to depict events, it didn’t lessen the blow for most.
On various social media platforms, many fans are still shocked by how cruel the twist of events is, especially for Yuji.
Meanwhile, others are stunned, but not in a good way. Some viewers thought that the flashback didn’t serve much purpose. Not to mention that Nobara’s apparent death was too sudden.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will continue with Episode 44, which will be released next week.
